Tiffany was enjoying having Tree home and out of the streets so much, but he was withdrawn and spent a lot of time holding the baby and staring into space. Tree had confided in her about everything that was going down and she was worried that the streets were finally catching up with him and he would be taken from her and their daughter. She wanted to help but didn’t know what to do. She called her cousin to find out why she hadn’t been calling and why they had not met to discuss what was going on. Diamond told her that she too had been stressed with the possibility of the Feds coming in and tearing up her family. Von also had been spending a lot of time at home, and that was so out of character for him too. Diamond told Tiffany that Von had recently confided in her that he would not be taken quietly and that they needed to prepare for the worse. If the best comes out of it good, but with Ish working with the Feds he didn’t know what to do. Ish right now was untouchable because he was under fed watch and so were they.
After a long conversation, Diamond promised Tiffany she would be to see her in a couple of days. Tree eavesdropped on their conversation from the doorway and startled her when she turned around.
“Why are you standing there?”
He responded, “I was just admiring your beauty.
Tiffany smiled, walked over to him and hugged him.
“Don’t be mad at Diamond for not calling. I’m sure Von is still a little pissed at me for holding that info about Ish out on him until I knew for sure, and Diamond is just trying to keep the peace.”
“Tree, so what is really going to happen now if y’all go through with this shipment on Sunday, and Ish knows about it?”
Tree shrugged his shoulders and said: “I knew what it was when I got in the game, and although I would never want to leave y’all, I have to hold my brother and father down by any means. We are just waiting on Cito to make the call.”
Tiffany did not like that at all. “Well what about Nina? She knows a lot about the business and if they’re together, even if you get Ish, she might be working with the Feds and be able to turn state’s evidence on y’all for the sake of Ish.”
Tree rubbed his hands over his head and said, “Tiff, I don’t know, and I don’t want to talk about it anymore.” He grabbed her hand, led her to the bathroom and turned the water on in the Jacuzzi. Tiffany slowly undressed him, then herself, and slid into the Jacuzzi. When Tree was seated, Tiffany slid on top of him, looked into her husband’s eyes.
She said softly, “I promise you, I will ride with you for life.”
Tree wanted to believe he could ask her to hold him down on a life sentence.
